On to Our Harvest Host Stop

Sunday, May 20, 2018

Time to leave Ramblin' Pines and move on to the next stop.  Of course now that the rally was over the sun came out.  Actually that was a good thing for a travel day.  We got on the road about 11:30.  All seemed smooth until we thought we had left the tire tracker control on the picnic table back at the last site.  Do you know how hard it is to turn a 33 foot motorhome towing a pickup around on small roads?Well fortunately we found a place to pull over and we retraced our movements and realized that it should be on the rig somewhere.  Thank goodness it was and we continued on without a turnaround.

Our stop for the night was a Harvest Host location west of Pittsburgh in a town called Clinton.  It was the Janoski Farm.  This was a large operation with a plant nursery, farm produce store, bakery and a restaurant.  They were very nice and we parked in back in a nice field.  Our closest neighbors were donkeys,  a goat, ducks and a rooster.  We bought some fresh produce, nut rolls, a basil plant, ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and had a great night's sleep.

This farm is on Route 30, the Lincoln Highway.  We were sitting in the rig and Bruce said look at that small house.  I think that is the Lincoln Highway symbol.  Sure enough we walked up to it and it is an original Lincoln Highway cabin.  We were told they have another one that they hope to restore.  That was certainly a pleasant surprise.
