Had a short drive today so we didn't hurry tp pack up and leave. We usually do a good bit of packing up the night before but we met a really nice couple from Arizona. Betty and Merle. They are full-timers. They stopped by our campsite and we had a really nice chat. So we left packing up for the morning. All went well until Bruce checked the air in the tires. It seems the more care we give the tires the more something goes wrong. Driver's side front, a brand new tire, lost most of it air. Bruce pulled the valve and replaced it and we were off.
Arrived in Etown, as it is referred to here around 2:00. We have a lovely campsite with a nice front yard and shade trees.
As is our usual practice we drove around to see the area. Our first stop was the Etown visitors center. The nice ladies there supplied us with maps and brochures, etc. More things to do than one week will allow. Then we drove through town and all the way to Fort Knox. We didn't know it was so close.
We tried to make a withdrawal, but they
said no.
Since I starting using the Roadside America app, I have been finding large animals and other items. Now I am on the lookout for them. On the way back to the campground I saw a blue elephant. This will make my third large elephant statue.
After stopping to take a picture I saw two remarkable carved wooden statues of soldiers. What a great find.
Back to the campground. We start the Bourbon Tour tomorrow, need a good night's sleep.
