Travel Day, Tennessee, First Harvest Host

We got a nice early start this morning.  We didn't have a lot of miles to go, about 168, but we did have a time change from Central to Eastern so we lost an hour.  We arrived at the Tennessee Valley Winery about 2:00 p.m.  This was our first stay at a Harvest Host.
Harvest Host is an organization that allows you to stay at the Host's place of business.  You must be a self-contained RV and be able to boondock.  As a courtesy, you are expected to maybe purchase a product or do a tour or participate in whatever the business may be.   There are wineries, farms, museums and many other participants.

Tennessee Valley Winery was a beautiful place to set up.  The people were really nice.  The owner really went out of his way to see that we were comfortable.  We even had electric.  This winery made sweet wines.  I like sweet wines.  When I mentioned how hard I try to like really dry wines he assured me I should drink the kind of wine I liked. After a fun tasting, I bought two bottles, one sweet, one semi-sweet and Bruce bought a bottle of dry. We also bought some local buttermilk cheese. Cocktail hour now taken care of.

This was a very relaxing evening.   We put out our chairs and just watched the grapes grow.  Another couple on their way home to South Carolina joined us a bit later in the evening.
