Travel Day, Pigion Forge

We had a very early start.  Left TVW by 9:00 a.m.  We only had 66 miles to go so we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  There is nothing like a Cracker Barrel breakfast. There was an accident that stopped traffic in all lanes for about 30 minutes. Because we needed to kill some time so we wouldn't arrive at our next campground to soon, we stopped at a Visitor's Center in Sevierville.  It turned out to not be the typical state-run visitor's center.  It had every brochure we could possibly want and very helpful people recommending all sorts of things to do.  Remember, this is the Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area.  The epitome of a tourist area.  It was actually BlueGreen Vacations. Normally we would have run away very fast, but I decided to live dangerously.  The young man asked what we had decided to see and I told him.  He then told us how much the tickets would cost for the three things I picked out.  About $258.00.  He would supply them for $100 if we would go to their 120-minute presentation the next day.  Since we have a motorhome, I was quite confident they could not talk us into anything so I said sure.  Poor Bruce thought I lost my mind.

Arrived at Up the Creek Campground around 12:30.  A very nice place.  We had concrete patios and a nice big tree shaded site.

After setting up we did our usual drive around.  But this time we drove to Maryville, TN.  This was a place that we had been reading about.  It is supposed to be a good place to retire.  I am sure it is.  Low taxes, low cost of housing and low cost of living.  But, we just didn't feel it.  So it is back to the drawing board for us.  I think that maybe a better place in Florida may be in the lead right now.  We did stop at Big Lots while we were out.  Love Big Lots.  Bought some Butter Chicken sauce and when we got back to the RV that was what we had for dinner.  It was good, but I am spoiled by the Butter Chicken Erich gets in Baltimore.
