When we were here a few years ago it was suggested to go to the Henricus Historical Park. It is closed on Mondays and that was the only day we had so we had to postpone this site for another time. Today was a perfect day for this. The weather was really nice.
This is a living history museum. It was the second English Settlement (after Jamestown) in the new world. It was founded in 1611. Museums like this are always such gems. The folks that work here and other living museums are always so passionate about history. They are always so nice and excited to share with you all the information they can about the sites. This site was no different. We had great docents answering questions and chatting with us. We also had an artillery gun firing demonstration.

Once these were civil war graves.
The Indian Village
The process of making dugout canoes.

After several hours at the Historic Site, we stopped at a few overlooks and walked along the Conservation area's swamp.
Our next stop was at Battery Dantzler on the civil war trail.
By now we are hot and thirsty. Guess what we did.
We had the best big pretzel with a mustard dip.

Not our pretzel, but it looked just like this one.

This was a good day. Until. . . .
We got to end our evening with a hassle. Because we are in a state park with no sewer we have to take showers in the bathhouse. We waited until late so we would have no trouble getting a shower. Well, about two weeks ago the truck developed a problem. The door locks keep locking and unlocking constantly as we are driving down the road. Needless to say, not only was this driving us nuts, we were afraid the switch or something was going to burn out. Bright idea, let's pull the fuse for the door locks and just manually handle the locking. That was working pretty well except for some reason the driverside window now won't go down, but we could deal with that just for the silence. All was well until about 11:00 pm outside the bathhouse tonight. After our showers, we climbed into the truck and it wouldn't start. All the lights on the dash were bright but nothing. Then we thought that maybe the ignition was locked. The security systems on Chevy's are a bit strange. Bruce had experienced something like this before. If you use the fob and try to unlock with the key or vise-versa, the ignition locks. So after the initial "What the heck are we going to do now", he put the fuse back in and it started right up. Whew,
