Vegetables, Cars and Beer

Saturday, June 5, 2021

We had today all planned.  Early off to the Farmer's Market and then back to the campground to go to the Car Show that was being held there.  Then we planned to go down to Fredericksburg to tour the Bloody Angle.  This is about a mile long tour of the battlefield.  If we had time and energy we were going to stop at the Old Salem Church.  Well, we made it to the Farmer's Market.  I bought some yellow squash and zuchinni.  Bruce bought a bar of Kentucky Bourban homemade soap.  Ended our morning with freshly made Mimi Donuts.  But it was so hot there was no way we could do the Bloody Angle tour.  It was already over 90 degrees before 10:30.

Back to Wilderness and the Car Show was in full swing.  After a quick stop at the RV, we went up to the Car Show.  This was a show for the benefit of Wounded Warriors.  It was a really nice show.  There were some nice cars and bikes.  We were supposed to vote for our top three favorite cars and bikes.

Our #1 pick

Bruce's #2 pick

We both chose this as #3

Debbie's #2 pick

After we left the car show we did some Geocashing around Route 17 north of Fredericksburg.  We found four out of five.  Most were micros in the base of lamposts.  Only one was off in the woods'

The heat was getting to us so it was time for a beer.  We went to a brewery call 6 Bears and a Goat.
This brewery is named after its founders (and the mascots of their respective military services).  The six Bears are 20 year retirees from the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Goat is a retiree from the U.S. Navy.  Collectively, the 6 Bears & Goat have served their country for over 140 years.

We were so hungrey, I forgot to take a picture.  We had Bacon-wrapped Buoys and Knot-chos with ground beef.

Now back to the RV for a break and then preliminary packing up ready to leave in the morning.
