Family Camping

Thursday, August 23 - Sunday, August 26, 2018

Chris, Candice, and Brandon joined us for a camping trip.  We stayed at the KOA in Williamsport.  What a great campground for the family.  We spent one day exploring Paw Paw Tunnel along the C&O Canel.  Spent time in the pool and the jumping pillow. Brandon made a new friend.  She was really sweet.  They had pizza and went to the movies together.  They did some craft stuff and there was a pool party one day.

Where the goats live.

The Paw Paw Tunnel is a 3,118-foot-long canal tunnel on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.  It was built to bypass the Paw Paw bends, a six-mile stretch of the Potomac River containing five horseshoe-shaped bends.  There are more than six million bricks in the tunnel.  Construction began in 1836.  It was estimated to take two years but turned out to be a far more complicated project.  It did not open until 1850.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

You can see and feel the wear points from the ropes the mules use to pull the boats along the canal.

We have been to many campgrounds that offered hayrides for the kids but this one offered a wet hayride.  We found out that as the tractor pulls the wagon through the campground the campers spray them with water.  It was so much fun.  I used the water cannon that Brandon got to play with in the pool.  Bruce had a hose.  Everyone along the route let them have it.  Most fun I ever had at a hayride.

It was really a lot of fun sharing our love of camping with the kids.  Can't wait to do it again.
