Well, we are off for our fall RV trip down south. Our first stop is Leesville Lake Campground in Gretna, VA. This campground has a late check-in time, 3:00 pm which goes against our leaving the DC area in the early morning hours. So we planned to leave around 10:30. It was raining and had been all night. The utilities had tree trimmers out which shut down access to our street and then the top of Osborne Drive. We checked our lights and no brake lights. Fortunately, Bruce was able to find a loose switch and solved that problem. Also, apparently the trees on Riley Place must have been trimmed and we were able to go out the direct way instead of going around the block like we have had to do for the last two years. The end result, we didn't get out until 11:00. We stopped at a rest area to make sure the brake lights were still working, stopped for gas and it was a 4-hour drive.
Once we got to the campground, the rain had dwindled to an occasional sprinkle. It is a small, quiet campground. We picked a newly renovated site, #6, in the trees. Unfortunately, it is not level. Do you know how hard it is to level a 34-foot Motorhome? It took us forever and we never did get it just right.
This was an early to bed kind of night to the sound of rain on our roof. Much to our surprise, the wind had pushed rain through our bedroom slide and we had to do some drying out.
