Vegas, Hersey, Pilgrim, Local Cruisin"

 Tuesday, September 7 - Saturday, September 11, 2021

Finally, our Covid-canceled trip to Las Vegas has been rescheduled.  Things have really changed in Vegas for us.  No more Circus Circus.  It has been sold,  so there are no more comps for us.  We are staying at Bally's this time.  The last time we stayed here was at a Moose Convention years ago.

We traveled with our friends, Mary Cawley, Carol Robertson, Pat Robertson, Carol's friend Walter and of course, Bruce and I.  Met up with Pat's son Billy and Mary's son Chris.

Las Vegas just wasn't what it used to be for us.  We enjoyed having our room comped at Circus Circus and knew the dealers and Pit bosses.  We were always welcomed back.  Now we are paying a lot more for a room and the wonderful resort fee (which gives us nothing).  Everything is so expensive now.  A bottle of water can cost you $5.  Our first meal was a burger at Johnny Rockets at Bally's, which cost a fortune.  A "nice" breakfast in Paris cost us over $80.  Even gambling is more expensive.  No more $5 three-card poker tables and most slot machines are 75 cents and above.

It was very hot there in September so we did most of our walking through the casinos.  This was actually a good thing because the streets were filthy and the homeless and drunks were laying everywhere. We also had to Urber even to and from the airport.  No more Bell Shuttles.

We still did some cool things though.  We had our traditional breakfast at the "Egg and I with the gang.

We visited the new Resorts World Casino.  It was nice but the build-up for it left a bit to be desired.

We spent some time at the Linq and The Venetian.

The coolest thing we did was go to the new Aera 15.  We went to Omega Mart. This is a production by Meow Wolf.  This was a bit mind-blowing.

The entrance to Aera 15.  There are a number of exhibits here.

The Mart is a parody of a grocery store.  Of course, nothing is for sale, but the puns are incredible.  You can spend quite a long time searching the shelves of this grocery store.

After you are done with shopping, there are numerous ways to enter the behind-the-scenes of the exhibit.  Such as entering through a beer cooler.  What is back there is very hard to describe.  You can participate in a mystery and try to find clues.  There are slides to take you from one floor to another doors and hallways that take you somewhere.  Interactive things that may do any number of things. We spent all afternoon there and only left because we ran out of energy.

Just a few rooms

I was totally overwhelmed and didn't do justice to the pictures I could have taken.

We got back home safe and sound and ready to explore locally.

Time for the Hershey RV Show.  I guess everyone is fed up with the Covid nonsense because we have never seen so many people in line to get into this show.  Unfortunately, the line was the most notable thing for us this year.  RV shows just don't hold the fascination they use to for us.

We had the pleasure to go to the Moose and celebrate Emmett Bisnett's Pilgrim Ceremony,  Although we are not very active in the Moose lately it was great to help Emmett celebrate.

Sunday, September 26, 2021rk.

Spent the day exploring Maryland.  We started out at Chatman State Park, then to Piscataway Park. We walked down to the Potomac from the backyard of Mt. Aventine. That was quite a hill to climb back up.
