June 2020

Today we are taking the Maryland Covered Bridge Tour.  There are six covered bridges in Maryland.  We visited three today,  Our first stop was Gilpin's Falls Covered Bridge.  IT was built in 1860 and crosses North East Creek.  It is located in Bay View, Cecil County.

Our next stop was Foxcatcher Farms Covered Bridge.  It was built in 1860 and crosses Big Elk Creek.  It is located in the Fairview Hill Natural Resource Management Aera.

On our way to the next bridge, we stumbled upon this really interesting historic site maintained by Elk Creeks Preservation Society.

The final bridge of the day was the Jerricho Covered Bridge.  It was built in 1865 and crosses the Little Gunpowder Falls between Baltimore and Harford County.

Other things we saw along the way.

Hoodoo Marker

This was located in a parking lot of a veterinary hospital.  "Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor's landmark and all the people shall say amen."  it has not been moved since it was placed there in 1810.
