Today we are continuing our Covered bridge tour. the first bridge today is the Roddy Road Covered Bridge. It was built in 1856 and it crosses Owens Creek.
The next bridge is Loy's Station Covered Bridge. It was rebuilt after an arsonist's fire nearly destroyed it in 1991.
The last bridge on this tour is the Utica Mills Covered Bridge. It was built around 1850 and spanned the Monocacy River, but was washed away during a severe storm in 1889. Local citizens gathered the remains and reconstructed the 101-foot long Burr-arch at its present location crossing Fishing Creek.
While we were at Roddy Road bridge, we met a park ranger there. He was telling us his favorite bridge was the La Gore Bridge across the Monocacy River. He gave us directions on how to get there so we went to see it. It is a three arch stone bridge. While we were there we also saw a family of feral kittens. They were so cute. After we got home we were worried that we should have done something in case they had been abandoned. We went back the next day armed with water and food. But then we saw them with their mother and other siblings and decided they were feral and we really couldn't do anything for them. Left the food and water and wished them well.
On our way back home stopped by this neat house in Frederick. To bad, it was closed. Would have liked to see inside.
After we went to see if we could find those kittens again, we just rode around the area and looked for interesting things. Saw this big piece of machinery working and this really neat old cemetery. Then we found this abandoned stone house. Haven't found out anything about it.
Got a phone call from a scammer. Nothing like getting a bogus phone call on your phone from your number.

I guess we just don't believe in isolation. We really can't stand just sitting around the house all day. Another road trip. This is down in southern Maryland near Calvert Cliffs. Of course, it was closed, but we enjoyed looking.
