Montgomery County Agricultural Farm Park

Today we went to the Agricultural Park.  they were having and event titled "Sowing the Seeds of Victory:  Montgomery County Farms During World War I."  Living history demonstrations featuring costumed reenacators, demonstrations, music, WWI era farm equipment and tours of the farmstead.  We even had tea with some suffragettes.

These children were sharing toys from the day.  They had jacks but didn't know what they were.  Dating myself but I showed them how to play jacks.

44th Anniversity

Celebrating 44 years today.  We went to Frederick, MD and did a walking tour of the town.  This is such a pretty town and very friendly to just walking around.

We ended our day at the Flying Dog Brewery.  Great tour and great beer.

The End of our Tire Problems

We bought new tires for the front of the Rig.  The tire on the driver's side became our spare.  We have been having so many problems with the front tires.  Hopefully that ends today.

Letterboxing

Brandon joined us today at the Audubon Naturalist Society to look for a couple of Letterboxes.  We found two here and one in Sligo Creek Park.  Enjoyed hiking too.

2017 Poker Tournament in Las Vegas

Arrived at Circus Circus the site of the 3-card poker tournament we have been attending for years. Didn't win this year.

Cruised the Strip.

Did the VooDoo Zip Line from the 50th floor of the Rio.  It travels at 33 miles per hour from one tower to another.  Fastest two seconds ever.  Beautiful view from the top of the building.

Annmarie Sculpture Garden

This is a gem near Solomons Island.  We were turned on to this place by the docent at Benjamin Banneker Park.  There is a 1/4 mile walking trail through the forest past many beautiful sculptures.  There are also many little surprises, like fairy houses, small paintings on tree stumps and there is an indoor gallery.  What a great way to spend an early spring day.

Birthday Trip

Well today I am 64.  How did I ever get this old?  I must remember that age is just a number.  We have too many things to accomplish to worry about birthdays.

We decided to spend the day downtown in Washington, D.C.  We started out at the Eastern Market.  Like so many things in your own backyard, we had never been there.  Being March it was rather quiet.  I still want to visit during the summer when it is really active.  

Went across the street to Tunniclifts for lunch.  We love going to pubs to eat.  Had a beer, appetizers and good sandwiches.

Next, off to another place I had never visited.  The National Archives.  It was really refreshing to see so many people, especially young people, looking at the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

After quite a while at the Archives, we walked over to Pizza Pi at 9th and F.  This was a bar we have gone to a few times.  They have great pizza, but we always like the homemade potato chips.  After all this was just a snack.  The best was yet to come.

Once home Bruce made me my favorite dinner.  Garlic Steak with julienned vegetables.  A great birthday.
