On the way home

Wednesday was a travel day. On our way out of Logan, I grab a picture of this wooden Indian on our way by.
Our next stop is in Handcock, MD. We stayed in Happy Hills Campground. We have stayed here before. It is a good stop for us to do a good cleanout. I guess all the rain we have been getting really played havoc with their roads. They were in horrible shape. While we were in the area we checked out the campground we were planning to stay at with Chris and family. We decided the road down there was just too steep and long to justify staying there. It was a nice campground but to hard to bring our rig in. So we checked out a KOA in the area. That is where we are going later this month.
We just took it easy here and did a good cleanout. Got home on Saturday morning.

More Rain, Quirky search

Another rainy day. Went off in search of quirky stuff. Started off in town with the world's largest washboard.
Then we tried to find the entrance to a large mine fire. Unfortunately, it was on private property so we couldn't get to it. But we did find this mural about the mine fire in a local town.
Next, we came across this cemetery.
Our next discovery was this whole town that was an advertisement of sorts for the kinds of tiles made by a local company.
This was a working logging sawmill we passed.
Our next discovery was a park out next to the freeway.

Rain, Second try for Old Man's Cave

Rained all night. Being so close to the river is neat, but we learned in the spring our campsite was under water. The river was higher but not danger.
We set off again to try to see the Old Man's Cave. What a difference some rain and a day makes. The site was not a tenth as crowded this time.
This is a very popular hiking area in Hocking Hills State Park. Old Man's Cave derives its name from the hermit Richard Rowe who lived in the large recess cave of the gorge. He lived out his life here and is buried beneath the ledge of the main recess cave.
I can understand why someone would want to live out there life here. It is a beautiful area.
